JOLIET, IL – Millions of people from all over the United States have flocked to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet for over 20 years to watch NASCAR which is televised across the country, but the Joliet track may not have been ‘to come up. Tuesday, Journal of Sports Affairs announced on Twitter that Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet would be deprived of its annual NASCAR weekend as part of the 2021 calendar.
The NASCAR track in Joliet now has a bleak future and it is possible that the NASCAR race will be over for Joliet and Will County.
The track opened in the late 1990s and for a number of years it has enjoyed hosting two NASCAR races, huge revenues for the Joliet area including motels and hotels in Will County.
On Tuesday evening, WJOL Morning Show host Scott Slocum reported the news to his Facebook followers, asking them, “Did we see the last race in history at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway in Joliet? . “
