Although this year marked Warrior Canine Connection’s eighth annual graduation ceremony, it was their first virtual ceremony. The special presentation showcased successful service dog placements that will help veterans in need nationwide.

On Saturday, six teams of veteran assistance dogs, two installation dogs and five breeding dogs graduated.

The WCC is headquartered in Boyds and officials say 75 dogs have been placed with service members and veterans to date. This includes service dogs, service dogs and military family support dogs. However, due to the unique nature of the Mission Trauma Recovery Training Program, where Veterans train dogs for their fellow warriors, WCC programs have reached nearly 5,000 Veterans. During training, each dog interacts with up to 60 veterans along the way, according to COE officials.
